What Is The Best Way To Begin Learning About Personal Finance And Investments?

It is a truly scary and daunting subject that I must learn about even though I don’t like the subject matter much and basically have trouble understanding. Where do I start and to whom do I listen ? Everyone has an opinion but everyone also has their own agenda. I need to learn this from the bottom up and would like to learn it from an unbiased source. Any thoughts?
